About Wildcard Kitchen

Good food deserves more than a bin. Dinner deserves more than the same shopping list.

Wildcard Kitchen is building Mystery Fridge: weekly surprise boxes of surplus groceries from local grocers and producers. Each box is designed to hold 8–12 items, including one wildcard ingredient that nudges you out of your cooking routine.

Rescue the ingredients. Rewrite dinner.

Overstock, near-date items, and imperfect packaging can leave perfectly good food without a home. Our goal is to connect that surplus with curious cooks, budget-conscious households, and roommates ready to try something different.

A little challenge goes a long way

A QR code in each box leads to a 60-second cooking challenge. That is the prompt, not the cooking time: you might be challenged to make dinner with your wildcard in under 20 minutes. Share your reveal and finished dish with #MysteryFridge, or just enjoy what you made.
